Georgian Salte Dagger “Lagi”, 2025.

Length 650 mm.

In 2012, an old Georgian dagger of a previously unknown type came to my workshop for restoration - a weapon worn on the waist in a leather-covered metal sheath under the garment. To the best of my knowledge, no similar Caucasian weapon has been recorded in any known collection to date. Quite large (total length 74 cm). The style and ornamentation of the silver fittings on the sheath indicated that this weapon was made in Georgia in the 19th century. This event was reported to the Georgian National Museum.

During the restoration of the item, I had the idea to create a similar author's work (not a copy): I changed the size and shapes somewhat and created a new original sketch. The design and material of the sheath were changed. The sketch was made by me with respect and adherence to the traditional Caucasian weapon style and canons.

This satevari was made in 2025 in my workshop in the Netherlands.
